I'm getting a rabbit

I'm getting a flemish giant in two weeks. I was wondering if someone can give me some care tips.

My best advice is to get your bunny spayed/neutered once they are old enough .

Also, check out rabbit.org. It's a great website .

How old is the rabbit? A baby?

Good luck with your bunny!

Aww .

A rabbit that young should be eating alfalfa-based pellets and/or alfalfa hay. Once he's around six or seven months old you can start slowly switching him to timothy hay and introduce vegetables into his diet .

Is he going to be a house bunny? I've found that the larger breeds are often cuddly and dog-like. I had a Giant Chinchilla and he loved everyone .

I don't feed Zeus pellets, just hay and fresh greens. I recommend Oxbow for hay though.

Flemish gaints are so cute! I would get one if I had more room. Post pictures when you get him/her!

I feed Oxbow which is definately one of the best brands available in the US . Sweet Meadow Farms is also good but isn't as easy to get. Kaytee (just the pellets, not the mix) is alright in a pinch but I wouldn't feed it as a staple long term.

Question

I'm building a cage for my bun but not sure how big to build it. I am building it out of storage cubes. I know flemish giants require alot of space but I have read some many different size requirements that I am now confused. Any advice would be helpful.

Honestly, for a Flemish I would just build the biggest cage money and space will allow, haha.

Remember to build up too! Mine just love hopping up and down the levels.
I would LOVE a Flemish giant. One day I will have my BIG bunny. One day. Until then I have my normal bunnies and my tiny bunny.
