Litter Change

I've been using Yesterday's News for about a year now and several months ago the litter changed. It stinks-smells like oil.
My rabbit's stools have been messed for months and I
think the litter is why.

What is the best litter for rabbits? What do you use?

Thanks!!

The litter hasn't changed...are you sure you aren't just buying a different variety by accident (soft texture, scented, etc.)?

If her stool looks different that's not because of the litter, anyways. Sounds like there's a different problem going on. What's her diet and have you talked to a vet?

I'm using Yesterday's News unscented but it says soft texture which I didn't do before. It smells completely different.
I took a good sniff and didn't realize how nasty it smells - like
an heavy oil. I know rabbits sometimes eat alittle litter while they do their thing-ha!

Does anyone use the Yesterday's New specifically for rabbits?
I was told at the Petco that the varieties are basically the same. But now I think that is wrong.

Jude only eats Purina Rabbit food and hay. No goodies.

That's a different variety of YN. Get the one that says "original texture" (that's exactly what it says because I just checked my bag to make sure). As for the one for rabbits, it's the same but slightly more expensive, haha.

I have no idea what the ingredients list for Purina is. Is it alfalfa-based? At your rabbit's age, she should be eating timothy-based pellets (and small amounts). Does she get vegetables? An adult rabbit should have a small amount of timothy-based pellets, unlimited grass hays, and fresh vegetables/herbs.

Thanks Stephanie!

I'll check another pet store - because the one I have been buying from doesn't carry that brand anymore and won't
do orders.

I haven't used the soft texture since Friday morning and I
haven't seen any messing poop.
It was awful!! At times he would go like thick tar and it really
smelled - beside getting on him.

The rabbit I have is a jersey wooly - I was told from breeder to
feed him Purina Show Food and Hay.
I used to give Jude veggies I thought the veggies were causing
the poop problem but I sure was wrong!

Thank again for helping us out
Have a Wonderful Day!!

I picked up the original texture - it looks different but still funky smelling. Company changed the packaging - all different kinds are in a yellowish color bag; in have to look close to see which kind of bag you are picking up. I really think the formula has been changed.
I don't know what to do ;(
