Mini lop's beard is growing

Hi all,

We have a Mini lop rabbit and in the last day or two his fat beard under his chin/neck has almost doubled in size. Does anyone know why this is and if he is ok? We have had some very hot weather here maybe this is part of the reason?

Is your rabbit a male or female? Your rabbit has whats called a dewlap (sp?), and its normal, but its more common in females. I THINK its just some extra chub, but I dont remember exactly.

Hi Jess,

Well we bought him as a male but we often wonder as he has big titties and was plucking fur off his belly the other day. Do you think the thinghy under his chin growing is ok? Maybe he is a she?

Ummm... Im 99.99% sure you have a girly there!
Your bun is acting exaclty like a preggo female... plucking fur off the belly is something they do when they are building a nest, and males do NOT have "titties"!
How old is s/he? Did you get him/her at a pet store? If your rabbit was sold as a male and was in with other males, he could really be a preggo she. Pet stores are terrible at sexing animals.
