Unhappy Is my bunny sick?

My buns been seeming lethargic today and hasn't eaten any food. She's also just been laying around which isn't like her. She's actually letting me pick her up and she just lays on my lap, which sh'e never done. I'm a little worried. I did try some new food's last night, so I'm not sure if that's the problem. I gave her some parsley and some spinach. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Yes, any time a rabbit is not eating, she is ill. You need to get her to the vet.

This is only since this morning and it's 11:30 am. Is there a time period for not eating to be worried? She ate her dinner last night. The only thing that she had different last night was parsley, spinach and 1/2 teaspoon of banana. Also, she hasn't gone to the bathroom yet this morning.

Yes, as soon as they stop eating it is a serious problem. Rabbits are designed to have something moving through their systems almost 24/7. That's why they need unlimited amounts of hay. Longer than an hour or two is a concern, especially if they are also lethargic -- it means their GI tract has already begun to shut down.

Please get her into the vet - not eating and/or going to the bathroom is a serous problem with rabbits, even if it's just for a short time.

Good luck! Keep us updated and I hope she's feeling better soon.

Unhappy

Just got back from the vet. Trixie has a bloated stomach, they pumped out 100 ml of fluid. She's in critical condition. They'll know within the next 12 hours if she will survive.
