Unhappy My bunny's toes are drying what should i do?

I noticed that my bunny's toes on his right paw are drying and it's gone flakey but on his other paw it seems normal. Is there anything i should put on it?

If a topical treatment doesn't work, he could have fur mites. If he has fur mites, he would need to be treated with Ivermectin.

Try a triple antibiotic ointment first, and if that doesn't work, it is most likely fur mites, also known as "walking dandruff". Cat flea powder works on fur mites, but I am not sure if it is sold anymore, and the natural stuff doesn't work on fur mites. Poultry dust works on fleas and is safe for rabbits, but again, doesn't work on fur mites. You could try an over the counter flea and tick spray for small animals, but they are not 100% safe, so use only on the spot. Your vet can give your rabbit a shot of Ivermectin, or check with Barbi Brown's Rabbits at: www.barbibrownsbunnies.com for information on fur mites in the medicine chest under Ivomec.

I think that you should put a call into the vet to ask him/her what she thinks. I used the antibiotic oinment on Teddy's ear but the vet was concerned that if he cleaned it off it could mess up the good bacteria in his gut. If it is mites they can give him a few shots like moonchild said and it will clear up quickly and easily. It could be as simple as dry skin but a call to the vet can't hurt.
