NEED HELP...my bunny has some sort of anal prolapse I think.

We were just trimming our bunny's nails and we found she has some inflamed tissue protruding from her anal/rectal area. It has like yellow mucus around it too. We've been noticing small yellowish spots everywhere one the carpet for the last like month, but we thought it was simply urine or feces. What is it, and what should we do? Does this sound normal/self correcting? Thanks.

Thats what we'll do. I have tried giving her a warm bath, just letting her run a bit in a shallow tub, to stimulate it to go back in. I took a cotton swab and cleaned it up, but it still hasn't receded. Heres some pics. What do you think it is? This isn't normal, right? btw, it doesn't seem she is in pain or anything by it. It just isn't right...

That does not look normal at all.

And remember that bunnies are prey animals and hide their pain sometimes until it is too late.

don't do anything before talking to a vet, call them see what the E-vet says, and take her in in the morning. We can not give medical advice those of us with out vet training aren't knowledgeable enough to do so, and those that have had medical training can't diagnose over the computer.

Not trying to sound rude just protecting your bun and us....

Good luck!!! hope she feels better

I hope this gets better! The hard thing about emergency vets is that they're usually not too knowledgable about rabbits or any other small animals for that matter.

They were rectal polyps. They're benign, but we chose to get a surgery to remove them tomorrow.
