Poem for my Beloved Archibald
Archibald.
My furry brown fluff.
Archie is what you were truly called.
Your life had been rough.
You were a special needs rabbit,
Who seemed to be left all alone.
You had a terrible habit,
Along with a broken bone.
But Mommy found you.
You stole her heart.
She fixed and made you anew.
All you needed was a new start.
You were very little.
No more than two pounds.
Your bones were brittle.
Your fur different shades of browns.
A fluffy tail.
And a big nose.
But also very frail.
Unique beauty like a rose.
There was much love
From this one teenage girl.
The neglect she freed you of,
Now a shining pearl.
Now you hopped,
Oh, so free
Never to be stopped,
Could almost hear Archie's yippee.
But Mommy had to make a choice,
To let her beloved go.
In her low, sad voice,
The sadness will show.
But he is free
In a Heaven for a bunny;
Sitting quietly under a favorite ash tree,
Enough veggies to fill his tummy.
Be free Archibald.
Mommy loves you.
An angel, you are now called.
Pain, you are now immune to.
Remember him
And his spirit;
Even when chances look slim,
Grin and fight through it.
