Possibly Getting Two Rabbits

A friend of mine may be getting rid of her bunnies and I told her I wanted them. They're about a year-and-a-half old - not sure what breed.

I had a bunny when I was 15 or so but I don't remember too much - can someone give me the basics?

mom to three wonderful kids (9, 5.10, 4),
2 dogs, 3 hermit crabs and 2 bettas

I can only suggest that you get the biggest cage/ hutch you can afford/keep.. If they are both male get them neutered as they can fight, if both female I would suggest the same, also female bunnies who do not have babies are prone to cancer of the uterus etc.. Obviously if one is male and the other is female,( unless you want to breed from them) the male should be neutered, as its an easier op for them..
Food wise rabbit pellets are the best, fresh hay and veggies.. Mine like carrots, sweetcorn, broccolli, cabbage, and kale.. For a treat they love brown bread.. Make sure you get them a good water bottle, which you should change daily..
For the bedding of the hutch( if you get one) I use shredded paper/newspaper with straw on top..
I also make sure that they have their vaccinations for Myxamatosis annually, I don't know if that is relevant to you..
I think thats it, any more questions just ask, If I have forgotten anything I am sure someone else will tell you..

She currently has them in a huge dog crate that has been converted into a 2-level cage for them. I'm pretty sure they're both females - I'll ask if they've been spayed. Thanks for the info!

Christi, when Kim was going to rescue her two bunnies, she asked a lot of questions in this thread:http://www.paw-talk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21662 Carmen and I answered a lot of them and there's a lot of basic info in there.

www.rabbit.org is a great site for info. Do you know if the bunnies are house rabbits, or do they live outside? Are they going to be inside or outside at your place?

Read the thread that Steph linked to Christi and then come back and ask us any questions that weren't answered there! I'll be glad to help you out with any questions (as I'm sure the others are too)
