The thumpings driving me CRAZY!

Latey, Smudge has had random thumping episodes... all the sudden for no apparent reason, he just starts thumping, and wont stop! At first I thought it was the TV that was bothering him.
But when he had and episode a few minutes ago, I looked out the window... and saw a HUGE possum on our deck- I guess I found the reason for all his thumping!

It appears to be living under the shed right by the hutches, and even tried to break into the food, so the buns wont be going out any time soon.

He wont stop thumping tho! As Im typing this, hes currently thumping his little head off, and I cant get him to calm down. I tried holding him, and it worked for a while, but then he just started thumping on my tummy. I gave him his favorite treats and some food to distract him, and put a huge blanket over his cage to calm him down, but its not working.
It just really frustrating when your babys completely freaked out about something, and you can do anything! I dont want him to have a heart attack or anything either.
How do you guts get your buns to calm down when their scared? This is driving me crazy!

Poor Smudge.
I am not sure how to get them to calm down either. The other night Jay was yelling because he put his hand in cat puke (hehehe) and Ophelia completely freaked out. She was thumping for a while and Jay didn't yell that long.
Sometimes Ollie will thump and I have no idea why.
Did you tell Smudge that you saw thenbug bad opossum and you won't let him get in to hurt Smudge? Maybe that will help.

Mine get to going sometimes too... what's bad is when one sets the others off and you have a whole room full of thumping bunnies and you have no idea what started it in the first place. The other day I was separating laundry and was sitting down behind the edge of the bed, where Obvious couldn't see me very well, and he started thumping until I stood up. Bunnies are odd.

She sits in her corner, singing herself to sleep.
Wrapped in all of the promises, that no one seems to keep.
