Once the Great Stuff foam is treated with a sealer it is perfectly safe.

In my case I used black 100% silicon with coco fiber pressed to it.

My next attempt is going to used sand instead of the coco fiber and make cliffs and caves.

Breathers are very important. I work in my open garage and still needed to get out and breath.

It is quiet fun to make, if you like to shoot foam out of a can and get messy covering it in silicon.
