Canaries?

Is it possible to tame a canary? I think now I'm beginning to convince my parents into letting me get one (or two) but some websites say you can't handle them while others say you should. I'm confused . Also, if you can tame them....how do you go about doing it? This would be my first bird so I'm clueless .

Both of my canaries are very sweet and love to be held. Infact My male Toby will sit on my 2 year olds hand!

I have heard the same thing, that canaries should not be held, but I have talked to friends who own canaries, and bird stores, a nd they said yes definitely hold them and love them like you would any other bird. Just more gently lol
