Here's an idea....

My doves broke their millet holder...which was the ONLY toy in their cage, I read that toys for the doves/pigeons is only a waste of money, since they rarely show any interest..this was confirmed by a pal, who has a dove, and her dove shows no interest in playing with her cage toys...WELL, my female, Bonnie ... she LOVES her millet holder bells.... plays with them all the time... and then she broke it!

Anyhow... She was sitting on her perch, eyes half closed, looking bored...so I made her a fun little toy.

I took some half a hamburger bun, and mushed a bunch of seeds into it... I then put it on her cage floor, and she went crazy for about an hour picking the seed out of it! She had a great time, and was even making her little "bark" noise at the bread, so I suppose in a pinch, the bread/seed combo works....
*ps I'm getting her a new toy today*

How cute.

It's amazing how creative you become when trying to figure out ways to keep 'em entertained!

hmm I wouldn't give them twist ties, they have little wires in them that could easily be broken and poke and eye, perforate a nasial membraine or even get swallowed by the bird.... remember we have to keep our birds safe at all times!
