Well Flo and Spitfire abandoned their nest...
I noticed one night that they were both not in their box,I tried scootin em both in,and they wouldn't stay in very long. They did stay the night, but by the next morning, they were out again, and would not stay in the box.Even closing off the entrance, they didnt lay on the eggs.I feared they cooled down too much.It was after about 12 hours, and I decided to foster the eggs to Lexi. She was my hen that laid her eggs off the perch and originally fostered her eggs to Flo.Hers were unfertile.I put a box in Lexis cage, and she layed 3 more in her box, they were unfertile too,but didn't know for sure at the time.So she was already laying on eggs.Putting the 2 fertile eggs of Flo's in with her seemed to get her to stop laying too.
Lexi had been laying on her eggs wonderfully, and was even worried because for 2 days she wouldn't come out of the box.I gave her lots of millet..
The next morning,i heard peeps from a crack in an egg,and was worried as heck of having the baby die in the egg.Later in the evening,I found a little baby!!
Lexi is doing great!.I haven't noticed a full crop yet,but will check again later tonight.I am so happy!!
I don't see movement or veins anymore in the other egg.I don't think it made it.Sad,but do have my first tiel baby!!!
