molting meets mating *ugh*

my doves started molting this week....
they are also STILL TRYING to mate.
I put in a nest and everything for them, but they just can't get it right...

lots of wing flapping + molting feathers = one big mess....

I've literally had to run the vac every day... not only are their feathers going everywhichway, but Doves also produce a dust to help their feathers..... this dust goes EVERYWHERE too.

what a mess....

I love my babies, but the look AWFUL right now...especially Bonnie, she is molting on her head/neck area...and you can see her ears right now... my BF who has never had birds before, didn't realize that they even have "those huge holes on the side of the head"
*laughs*

I know what you mean about molting, I have thirteen cockatiels and its like a dust storm around them right now. I'm running the air purifier right next to the cages and on high.

They've lost some weight too, it seems... I fell the breast bone a bit more than usual...for doves, the weight loss isn't as severe as it is with most birds...but it's still not healthy if they loose too much, so I'm giving them cooked egg right now, so funny to watch...
*note to self : Two adult doves cannot in ANY way SHARE one dish*
