My baby birds on the front porch have already grown and flown the nest!

We were at my MIL's over the weekend, and her schnauzer found a baby robin - she couldn't reach it, but she sure tried. It ended up dying - dunno if Chloe's barking kept the Momma from coming back or what. Kinda sad ...

Oh Sharon, how sad!

Capn, what kind of birdies were they? House sparrows?

We'll make a bird lover of you yet, Capn.

Sharon, the wildlifer in me says that there was probably something wrong with that baby and Mom had left it. Most mama birds have no problem dive bombing barking dogs to get them away from their babies! Still a sad situation - but don't blame the dog!
