Need Advice On Mustached Parakeets

Hi,

I am looking into getting a mustached parakeet & want to know if anyone owns one if they can tell me a little about their experience with them. I mainly wanna know if they are considered friendly or cuddly birds(this I realized is just a generalizaton as each bird has its own personality). Do they as a general rule like to be petted, scratched behind the neck & sit on people or are they more stand offish birds that really dont enjoy alot of human interaction.

Hi, they are really good birds but as a general rule are not cuddle birds. They do like to be pet and enjoy a good scratch. They also require daily handling to remain tame. As far as being a family bird and being standoffish.........they would perfer to play with their toys while around the flock. They need to be handled by everyone in the home so they do not become one person birds. Again this is general, as each bird has its own personality. You can do a search for a board called land of toos....they have a message board just for this species. Good luck

Hi, Thanks for the great advice. I tried doing a google search for land of toos but it didn't pull anything up. Do you happen to have the URL?
