Hummmm.... Try contacting someone in Ottawa.

If I am correct the city collects all the swans and houses them for the winter.

From my understanding, ducks and water fowl are equipped with blubber or something that prevents them from getting cold eh?? Hold on, ok so the problem is finging food. If someone spread food out for them which is full of fat wouldnt it be fine?? Im only finding this strange since geese, swans and other foraging waterfowl live in the wild and not only on public parks where theyre kept care of....Fill me in if IM missing something!

hey
Call le nichoir. They're in hudson and specialized in rehabilitating birds.
http://www.lenichoir.org/
I don't know if they take adults, but they'll be able to help you as to what to do for sure.
I can't believe the SPCA didn't tell you to call them, they have volunteers from le nichoir come to the SPCA in montreal all the time to pick up the birds that the SPCA can't take care of.

They collect them in Ottawa because the river freezes over, also because all the swans are decendents of the swans the Queen gave Canada as a gift.

I agree with the others, call the city or the environmental services there.

The swans here are collected for the winter too. There is a shed thingy in Bowring Park where the swans are kept in the winter.Amanda, you would know it if you saw it.
Swans are not native here and the first swans brought to NL were by the queen. So they want to keep these birds protected here.

OOHhhhhh, call me ignorant ^.^ I knew the swans were all decendants from the gifts of the queen (poor swans ) but I also know the other ducks get to use the unfrozen section of the ponds that are filtered by the city. I guess theyre not as important as the swannnnnns ^.^
