I know animal shelters dont but do rescues retire animals alot of the time if they are "up there" in age? I have heard of some, but not sure percentage wise. I have a rabbit that I "retired" do to behavioral problems ( she is fixed-- still attitude.) but I have never done it before.

i've never heard of the phrase "retire".
do you mean "put down" or "euthanize"?
if you mean what you think i mean than the numbers aren't out there. each place has their own policy.
maybe you've found a place that takes an old animal and provides food and shelter for the rest of it's years... if so please let us know because i'm sure many of us (like me and everyone i know) have never heard of this option for an old pet that we can't care for anymore.
