Up Up and Away

Would it be wise to take a flying squirrel away from its mother at 5 weeks? I work at a pet store and she recently had a "litter." I am very interested in having one as a pet but I think it's too soon.

Also, if I am advised to wait longer, what should I feed my pet? And how to care for them?

I am just wondering. Thanks.

Re: Too Soon for Baby Flying Squirrel?

Yes, I agree that you should be very careful not to take the baby from its mother too soon. Have you done research on how long baby flying squirrels should stay with their mother safely, before taking them home? If you take him/her home too soon it would cause stress to the poor baby. Good luck!
