Thumbs down Aquarium Dance Floor

Did anyone else hear about the dance club in Austin, TX that has an aquarium under their dance floor? This wouldn't be so bad except there are sharks and stingrays and other fish in there! How do you think the fish feel? Poor sharks, poor stingrays, poor fish...I think this is awful. Luckily PETA is trying to get it shut down, or at least the dance floor removed and I hope they are successful!

i think it would be really cool if it was just water.. it would have to be a HUGE tank with sharks and stingrays and such wouldn't it?

I bet they don't take good care of the animals...I hope PETA shuts them down, or the city does it

Even though people do dumb things with animals it doesn't mean they're complete idiots. I'm sure they have professionals who come in and care for the fish. I'm sure that dance place makes a lot of money every night. I'm sure with it being shallow is a problem, but I'm sure the fish are taken care of. I mean if you are going to pay high dollar for sharks and sting rays you would take care of them.

I just googled it.
Here is a link about it. A video of the dance floor is also included

PETA asks club to change aquarium dance floor | News for Austin, Texas | kvue.com | Local News

I think its beautiful but reading that the music and activity would disturb the sharks and other marinelife makes me think its a not so good idea. It would be like tormenting those animals.

That's sad . Vibrations like that really do bother marine animals. I'm not going to write a novel here but I really hope they rehome those creatures.

Just because the tank is maintained by professionals doesn't make it right either. I've seen plenty of aquariums maintained by companies that were....questionable.

I agree Stephanie. It doesn't matter how well professionals take care of them. It's shallow and the vibrations bother the animals.

What bothers me the most is that it looks like the tank is way over stocked. That, and sharks do tend to be very sensitive to vibrations.
If they want a dance floor over something cool with water, they could load it up with cool plants.

I didn't look at the link because I hate PETA so much,I won't even go to their site. But from what you guys are saying,it sounds terrible.

It doesn't matter if there ARE people that come and take care of the animals, the music and all the loud noise will definatly stree the animals out.
