what would be the best plant to put in with my betta?
His fins have already been torn once

mini amazon sword... I just got one for my betta and he loves it. He still perfers to sleep in the plastic pointy plants I have... but Iv noticed him sitting in the live sword plant during the day. My Mini amazon sword does well with the 3 hours of sunlight it gets from my window.

Java ferns are great...extremely hardy, don't need much light, and really improve water quality. You don't want to plant it directly into the substrate, try tying it to some driftwood or wedging it between a couple rocks.

Dwarf anubias plants are also very easy to care for .

I got frill plants. only because i didnt see either one of the ones you guys mentioned.. there soft.. i also got 2 pregnant guppies and a male guppy

should i? ive never put a betta in with my other fish before.
