they have him in a 2 gallon aquarium. I personally thinks it's a little small but that's as much space as her mom will allow for in the house because of all the water.

Ah, ok. In that case the tank should be getting weekly 100% water changes so yeah, I would keep cleaning it out so ammonia doesn't build up.

And hey, at least it's better then a vase .
