Can I put other cichlids with my parott cichlid?

We have a parott cichlid in our 55 gallon aquarium and I was wondering if it would be safe to add other cichlids to the aquarium?

Here is a good site that has lotz of info on parrot cichlids

ParrotCichlid.com - A Club for Blood Parrot Cichlid Owners

I myself had parrot cichlids with electric blues, yellows, hap mooris, severums, plecos, clown loaches. From what i have been told they can get along well with other African Cichlids but not with South American Cichlids. Parrots are African Cichlids. Note that i had a severum that is considered a south amer cichlid though and they got along just fine.
Do a little reasearch and sometimes it depends on fish personalities.

a link for south amer cichlids

its actually a 60 but with the rocks and deco it displaces some of the H20 naturally so its about a 55 i would say.
No i do not have a Cichlid tank anymore. I have tropical fish in that one now. My sis has the Cichlids. If i had room for two tanks i would have started the tropis in another tank. My sis wanted cichs so i let her have them. They are doing fine.
What have u decided to put in your tank?

i think gouramis a pair, i wanted two males and a female, but i dont think its a good idea, so just like a blue pair, and some female bettas, tiger barbs, and maybe if its not too crowded some neon tetras

Be careful with the bettas and gouramis as they have been known to fight. Make sure you get peaceful Gouramis .

Well, the reason is that Gouramis and Bettas are related. So it's almost like putting two male bettas together.

Female bettas are more likely to get along with Gouramis but there's always still a risk.

Yes, I know the reason. I know a bit about bettas i used to help a breeder friend of mine, Faith.

It depends on the bettas personality and the gouramis personality as mentioned before. I have seen other bettas and gouramis get along. Just depends.

Yup, I know . I just figured I'd give a warning. I do the same for fancy guppies even though I had a betta who lived with them .

Actually, I've mixed many fish that most people wouldn't recommend. I've never actually had any fights at all. Hehe. I think I would be shocked if I saw one of my fish chasing another one .

im a little worried about having guppies bc i havent had any luck with them in the past...i know that i should add 1tablespoon of salt per 5gal of water..and they even say that African dwarfs can live with them..but would they die if no salt was added or not as much, what allows me to get better odds on their survival?
