There can only be one reson for this mollusc decimation, my Mirror Carp Sherwood must have come of age and his lake borne instincts have kicked in.

Wow he must have one powerfull mouth.

The way of life, the snails were lower in the food chain, they all appear to have been broken the same way and the contents sucked out.

He knows you know

We used to have marine fish - puffers, lion fish etc.. Well my dog face puffer had a good meal one night, he ate one of hermit crabs.. I woke up to find the shell all broken up at the bottom of the tank and he had a guilty look on his face.. I was upset as this hermit crab was huge, and was quite sweet in a funny sort of way!

Sorry to hear of you Hermit crab, it just shows that instinct is everso strong.

Sherwood realy is a most wild fish as are the two Roaches that I have.

I think he has found most if not all of them, there were almost thirty in there but that total has slowly been dropping.

Many species of loach are known for eating snails as well. Inverts make up a good chunk of all puffer species' diet and shouldn't be kept together at all. Its very important to choose tank additions very carefully, and do a lot of research from several different sources or you could just be adding some expensive food choices for your current tank residents.

It can become really complicated when you get into reef tanks, and have many different species of fish as well as invertebrates, including corals and anenomes.

Unfortunately the Snails were there before the Mirror carp arrived, he has grown everso slightly and obviously felt a bit peckish.

Im not overly upset at the demise of my snails, I have worms in the fridge that I can cut up and give to my fish.

High protein diet.

I'm sorry Jon. I'm sure they had a good life, though.
