Floating Betta...

My betta will float from time to time, i went to the pet store and they said it might be gastro-intestinal or something, so they gave me this betta bio-gold to feed him. I feed him like once every other day, or a little bit every day. Why does he still float like this?

What exactly do u mean ...float like this?
Could u post a picture so that we may see what you mean?

It is common for bettas to just sit at the top of his tank from time to time. They do swim but not all the time like some other fish. A lot of the time they do like to stay at the top maybe resting themselves on the leaves of plants in the tank.

If you could post a picture or describe a little bit more what you mean by float maybe we could be more help.
Also how long have you had your betta? Is this your first one?

Yeah, bettas are pretty lazy! Mine always sit around doing nothing. If it's actually floating around like on it's side or something, at the top of the tank, then something could be wrong. But if it's in a normal position, and is just sitting around in the tank, then it could be perfectly fine.

Yep.

Bettas are anabantids, belonging to a special group of fishes that have a unique secondary breathing organ- the labyrinth organ- that enables them to breathe air directly from the surface of the water
Bettas gulp air from the water's surface to help them breathe.
So thats why they tend to like to stay up near the top often. They sometimes will rest on the bottom as well and look quite lazy...lol.

We would love to see a picture of your betta

He's BEAUTIFUL!

From the pictures I can see he is just being normal.Bettas are lazy like that and often "lay around".

He looks good to me - he's so bright red, beatiful!

It's funny how lazy bettas are sometimes!
