The fry are out!!
Well, for the past couple of days.. I have had some very elusive fry. They have manged to find a place in the divider and get out! So after two days of catchin them and putting them in their side of the tank, I gave up trying to catch them. I found where they were getting out and fixed the spot... but there were still three fry in the main part of the tank.
So I decided to experiment. Last time I left small fish (varying in sizes from 3/4ths of an inch to over 1 inch) they got ate when the lights were turned out. So, I wanted to see if these three guys would servive overnight.
To my superise, they did! So, this morning, I took the remaining fry out of the devided part and put them in with the adults. I then set up all my rockwork so only the fry and their father could get in.
It is amazing! Despite what I have heard about African cichlid dad's just being sperm donars, this one is definately different. He is protecting these babies from all the other fish! It is very awsome to see! He is completely content having them in his cave!
Weeeee!!! I'll have pics up soon of the fry in their new enviroment!
