Horseface Loach

Any and all info on this fish will be appreciated!

Can they live in community tanks? How big do they get? Are they peaceful??? What are their needs??

One of the pet stores here has some and they are so odd looking they are cute. But I wanna know more info before I decide if I should get one or not.

I haven't kept them but there are two different species sold under that name.

I think Acanthopsis choirorynchus is the more common one. I've been told that they will sometimes eat smaller fish like neon tetras but I don't know how true that is.

What I do know is that they are nocturnal borrowers who are rarely seen after being added to the tank. They need at least a few inches of sand or fine gravel to burrow in. They can grow pretty large...8-11 inches. I'd recommend at least a 40-gallon for a full grown one.

Yeah, most petstore fish are pretty young .

That's why so many people end up buying fish that they think are small...but end up growing to be two feet long .
