I'm asking for a friend about Northern Pike

Hi guys. My friend is an avid aquarium-ist and angler. He wants a Northern Pike. I'm asking for him, because I googled and there's not much useful out there. Though I got what I can. He wants to know everything, food, eating style, prey preferences, we got habitat through research, that part way easy. I read that they're really cannibalistic, competitive for food, solitary animals. That's fine, he just would like one to appreciate the sport of fishing. He wants to know if he can feed it goldfish? Thanks again guys for anything you can tell me

I wouldn't feed goldfish, no. Rosy red minnows or feeder guppies would be better and I would recommend that he raise them himself. Feeder fish from pet stores aren't well cared for and won't have as much nutrition...not to mention they can carry diseases.

Goldfish would probably be ok if he bred them, though.

I don't know much about that species but I believe they do best in brackish conditions? I also know that they get HUGE...what size tank does this guy have? A 55-gallon won't cut it.

I'm actually not completely sure what fish you mean but I'm assuming Esox lucius.

I would take a look here: http://forums.waterwolves.com.
