Smile lazy/non eating betta

Hey all
My betta has been staying at the bottom of the tank ALWAYS lately He doesn't even come up for food it seems like. He comes up and like will grab 1 lil nibble and just go back to the bottom like he's weak??
I'm not sure if it's old age, or if something is wrong? I've had him 2 yrs and idk how old he was when i got him.
oh....also
I've checked the water multiple times and it's great (ph-wise)
He lives in 2.5 gals w/filter.

Thanks in advance
(p.s. i've tried looking at him and i THINK it looks like he's all normal shape/color (like not bloated or white)

It could be age or stress.

What's the temperature in the tank? You should also get your other water parameters tested (ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates).

If everything's fine then it's probably just age although you can try offering frozen or live foods like bloodworms and mysis shrimp.

he seems to be acting fine now here's some pics to share (and to see if he looks normal )
This is w/the flash on...makes him look a odd color...

Close up

Oh same betta-sorry RIP..I came too late to suggest putting him in a net and balancing it on the top of the tank so hes close to the surface to breathe or (whatever they need all that air for anyway)and able to lift up enough to eat.my last betta Silence i had for about 2-3 years and when he began to slow down i put him up to the surface like that in a net and he got a few months more out of that b/c he was able to get air and food....sorry about your loss
