live plant bulbs

has anyone gotten those live plant bulbs that you drop in your fish tank and grow?

My roommate and i got 2 packages, one had 6 and one had 2 and split them we got them a week or so ago but none have them started to grow yet.

they do have a garentee though if they don't grow in 30 days you can take them back and they send you new ones.

I've heard mixed reviews...everything from "they grew so much they took over the whole tank!" to "they weren't even aquatic plants!".

I've never bought them myself since regular plants are less expensive and more likely to grow/be the species you wanted.

What kind of lighting does the tank have? Some of the species I see for sale like that need high lighting.
