My bettas

I took pictures of my bettas today.

The first pictures are of Kiyoshi, my oldest betta. I've had him for years and he definately looks ancient at this point, hehe. He has a tumor now (it's not constipation because it never improves or gets worse and it's only on one side) and I hope it isn't cancerous . He's still acting fine and builds bubblenests, flares, eats, and does dances for me. I adore him...he has a ton of personality.

Next is Valentino, a PetsMart veil tail who was in bad shape when I got him.

Sorry about the piece of a dead plant floating in one of the pictures...I've removed it now x_x.

My youngest fish (who is almost two years old) is Mr. Crowntail. His rays are kind of curved but I think he's beautiful anyways . Right now the poor guy is the hospital tank because his 5-gallon cracked. I only got one picture. He was flaring at me and giving me the evil eye, haha.

Thanks!!!

Yeah, Kiyoshi is one of those fish that definately looks old . He's still very energetic, though, and is loving the extra space in the 10-gallon.

Thank you!

Amber, I have an excellent store here that has live plants. I could send you some but this time of year is not the best time because of the cold. I could throw in some water sprite and anacharis, too. But like I said, it's too cold now and they might not make it.

You should totally get one .

They really are full of personality...that's why I love them.

Thank you. Hehe, Kiyoshi hates the camera . And Mr. Crowntail flares at everything.

Valentino never flares even if I show him a mirror...the only time he does it is if he gets really annoyed at another fish.

Nope, I use compact flourescent lighting which is stronger .

However, I've used plain flourescent lighting in the past for low-light plants.

I actually have one planted tank that doesn't even have a light . It recieves some indirect sunlight but that's it. Of course, I use hardy plants such as water sprite and java fern plus plant fertilizer.

They live 2-5 years . Kiyoshi is over three years old at this point...closer to four.
