My fish thread!

I have a 55 gallon tank. I have about 15 tetra, 1 blue dwarf gourami, 2 goldfish, 2 catfish, 2 dwarf frogs. I know you arn't supposed to put goldfish with other fish but I haven't had any problems. Here is a video of my black moor, its kinda dark because I used my digital camera and there isn't lighting on the camera. I will be posting more pics later.

I used to have goldfish with tropicals and had no problems, my goldfish actually seemed to thrive better with heat!
I do not have my tropicals with my goldfish now, but my cousin has some goldfish and tropicals together and they are all doing well...

I have 5 Different Goldfish (2 Shabunkins, 1 Comet + 2 Fantails), in with Tetras, a Angelfish, pleco and cory. I have never had problems, the GF seems to thrive on a heater. The only problem I ever had was when I had Kissing Gourami's, they began attacking my GF with kisses! My GF are all in the age range of 1-5 1/2 years old. They are all in a 50 Gal tank! BTW, I am Lisa's Cousin!

Im glad that everyone else has goldfish with other fish. I went to a fish store that wouldn't sell me fish because I had 2 goldfish in my tank. They said they could not live together. I was like they have been forever! That salesperson was really rude.

well the reason they shouldnt live together isnt really the water temp, or comapatability!
goldfish give out tons of ammonia and are general filthy fish, while the tropical fish are alot cleaner and dont let out much ammonia. haveing gold fish with your tropics could cause an ammonia spike.
and not to mention gold fish can get extreamly huge. and really should only be kept in a pond unless they are fancy gold fish like fan tails, etc. and most people will tell you the require 20 gallons for the first fish and 10 additional gallons per other gold fish.
thats why guys!

I understand why. I have a black moor and a calico telescope with my tetra. My tank is not overly crowded in any way and I haven't had any trouble with ammonia or anything, knock on wood.

I know that too...goldfish are some of the dirtiest fish you could have, however when I had my goldfish and tropicals together, I had no problems and always cleaned the tank anyway.

Sara - I don't have a pic of my whole tank but I will try to take on today. I need some more plants in there but its hard w/ my goldfish pulling them up all the time, lol.

Vanilla Rat - Don't ask me! This is the first time I have gotten a picture of one of them and its still a little blurry. The room I have them in isn't very well lit so its hard to take a picture w/ out the flash.
