My remaining platy

I had two platies but one passed away recently. It was right after our town started adding chloromines and although my conditioner is supposed to remove them it didn't do a very good job .

Anyways, this is Max:

Hiding from the camera:

My mom had taken the second picture...she's a photographer, hehe.

Thank you! Yes, I do plan to get him another friend because he does seem very lonely now . He hangs out with the betta but the betta finds him to be annoying, hehe.

Why would he attack him? Betta's can get along with other species of fish, just not other male betta's. Usually you have to worry about other fish nipping at your betta!

Why would he do that? Bettas and platies are both peaceful fish. I heard one story about a platy beating up a betta but never the other way around.

I've kept bettas with snails, frogs, tetras, cories, and guppies too .

really? i kept a betta with a single black long finned tetra and they got along fine for some time, then the betta attacked him and nipped his fins pretty badly....although i wonder if it was bc he had such long fins?...in the end i had to separate them...and then i tried to get him to be housed with two of my female bettas, and he didnt like them either..

Yes, it was because he had long fins and therefore looked like a betta. Granted, some bettas are ok with long-finned fish but most aren't.

And your betta didn't get along with the females because males should never be housed with other bettas...including girls. They only come together to mate and if kept together will kill each other.
