Yes so do i Sasami.....while this tank is only 2ft long, it is quite wide and high, not a standard sized 2ft. I do however have a bigger tank for them to upgrade to when needed. I cant believe they started out in a 28litre tank *LOL* they were sooooo tiny when i got them, they've been through a few tanks to here, this one will last em a little while yet though.
There are actually 6 goldies in there, the 6th is hiding behind the wood. They're names are......Sunlight (bigger gold and white), Daylight (gold), Twilight (calico), Moonlight (white), Starlight (white with black eyes), BrightLight (hiding - smaller gold and white)

Still one more to come...i'm going to add a black moor, its name will be Nightlight

The goldies have moved into a larger tank! I had to do a tank shuffle to fit in more, so i figured i may as well move them now.

If you want that species, avoid coral. The bright, intense reef lighting needed for most coral is irritating to that species of lionfish and you'll find that he'll hide a lot.

You could potentially get away with some low-light corallimorphs, though, like the various "mushrooms". They're rather pretty and come in all sorts of colors . I wouldn't go full reef anyways since you would need pretty strong filtration (lionfish are messy, haha) and you couldn't keep the typical "cleaning crew" type animals (since he'd eat them).

Just one word of advice...don't skimp on the skimmer. Almost everyone does because good ones are pricey--but then we all have to go out and replace it in the end anyways .

The tank has excellent lighting, i changed it over to T5's as the exsisiting lighting didnt work properly.

They have an Antennata at my lfs and he not shy *L* Gorgeous fish. My lighting is similar to thiers.

I havent decided if i'm even having a skimmer yet, it will be difficult to fit to the tank. Will see how it goes without it, and if needed will modify later.

Most fish aren't shy at the store but change behavior at home. But if that's true, awesome. It might be kind of an unnatural environment for him but he could adapt. What is he eating at the store? Hopefully you have an easy time switching him to frozen . I got lucky with my lionfish, the store had trained him to eat frozen krill and mysis.

If you want coral at all, you really need a skimmer. I'd go as far as to say that it's the most important piece of equipment (lights coming second). I guess with mushrooms you could get away without one, though. But lionfish are messy eaters and big waste producers so I would honestly consider a skimmer regardless.

T5s are great, which fixture did you get? You have a ton of coral options with most T5 fixtures .

I know that you're the type to do a lot of research but let me know if you need help with anything . Reef tanks are kinda my thing.

The lionfish in store are on frozen, with live as treats

As i said to fit a skimmer to this tank will not be easy...so will see how i go without, and if needed will modify hood to take one.

What do you mean by which T5 fixture? They are Hagen Glo T5's if thats what you are after.

I have been looking into this for a year or so now, slowly getting the stuff together to get it up and running, but in no hurry.
