Talking MzKity's Pond - Winterized and Made it Purdy! Hee Hee

I winterized my ponds, bird baths and my waterfall so that they have heaters in them. Wow, trying to get it all taken care of and not blow a fuse in the fuse box was challenging! It took alot of re-routing and alot of extension cords, but it is finally done. Then I threw in some pretty lights for me. LOL Here are some pictures...

The round red things in the ponds are heaters.

I've left the water bubbling

You can see my waterfall here.
I love the way it sounds. And all the little birds love to drink from it.

Here is a picture during the Summer

I love sitting out here!

See, I want to put up a decorative fence somehow next Spring and add a turtle! What do you think?

Thank you everyone. **HappyDancer** Do you have any pictures of your Uncle's setup? And, can I ask what does he keep the turtle in during the winter, just an aquarium? How tall does the fence have to be to keep the turtle in? Just depends on the size of the turtle? I mean, are they big time climbers? (for the size of the fence needed).

I don't have any pictures, I will see if I can get any, his turtle was a wild turtle that got hurt so it needed to be looked after, it climbs, his little fence is about a foot or so right now because the turtle is sort of small...his pond is good size and he keeps little goldies in it for the turtle...the little guy is thrieving...and when it gets cold he has a spare room in his house he made a turtle room lol, kiddie pool with water and a few ramps in and out...he was just worried that leaving it outside, even though its wild, could lead to the turtle dieing or something getting it because its an easy meal during the cold months...

I don't get to see him to often, but when I do I will ask for specifics for you.

Turtles can hibernate in the winter.
However something cheap and large that you could house a turtle in during the winter is one of those large rubbermaid bins. When I had turtles, they were kept in those. The turtle will need a heat and light source and a very good filter (they are very messy) though. And they do climb to bask.
