Unhappy Not looking good for the tetras... :(

Ok, well I went to Petsmart. The lady said the tank I had was too small and I needed a heater, etc. So I bought a 5 gallon tank and more plants (they were out of heaters). I came home and put the tank together using some of their old water and everything. Well, I put them in and they are not looking good. Lots of upside down swimming and some are at the bottom upside down. Totally sucks. I feel horrible. I thought I'd be helping them. I just don't know what to do. I think it was just too much stress for them.

I'm sorry Jane. I wish I could help you, but that sounds so weird! It wasn't your fault, I'm sure, and you're definitely not stupid!

Neons and Glo-Lites are the worst fish you can cycle a tank with. They have always been weak.
The 2 1/2,& the 5 gallon tank are not good tanks for the inexperienced, the bigger the tank the easier to maintain.
Sorry for your lose.
There is a neon tetra sickness, called "Belly up syndrome"
Yes you must have a heater, but plants not sure how they help?

I am sorry for your loss! Maybe you could google everything you need and get the tank reset up before you bring new fish home?

Your not stupid ill tell you stupid, i started my fishie tank about 6 months ago i went and bought some fish (the lady said they would be ok together) called pecocks and neons and silver dollars and a ghost knif. I had them for a day the pecocks ate the neons and the ghost knif attacked the pecocks and silver dollars so after one day of having my fish i was left with one. now if that is not silly i dont know what is, i felt so bad and gave the ghost knif away and now i have neons guppies mollies and nice fish (ones that dont eat each other)

Thank you, guys. I've decided to just return everything to the store.

Thank you for all the kind words, though.

I honestly don't want to. It was a spur of the moment thing anyways (I have OCD). So I'm just gonna get my money back.

I already have a betta. Thanks, though.
