Play or Agression?

Well, the good news is that Azure is all better, ad I put him back in my 20 gallon today! ^^ (Dont worry, I covered the filter!)

The bad news... My danio Refridgorater (I name my danios wierd things LOL xD) Is nipping at his fins. I dont know if he being aggressive, or if he just wants to play. It doesnt seem like hes really hurting Azure, or damaging his fins, but he is really annoying him. I noticed that danios play with eachother by nipping and chasing, and thats kinda what Fridge is doing to Azure... Azure will chase him around and bite him back too...

What ever theyre doing, do you think Azure will still be OK in that tank? Hes SOOO much happier in there compared ot a fish bowl, and I feel bad taking him out, but i dont want him to get stressed out, or have his fins recked... Also Ive never had my betta in a comunity tank before this, so I dont really know if its normal. Please Help!

I can't say - Sasami would probably know. But we just had a problem at work with a Danio beating up on another fish. We removed the Danio and put him in another tank with the more aggressive fish.
Good luck! Hopefully they are just playing.

Unfortunately, danios tend to be nippy towards bettas because of the long, flowing fins.

If it's constant or if his fins start to get tattered, you're going to have to separate them. It can be very stressful for a betta although you can try adding more plants or something so he can get away easily.

Good luck .

My experience

Danios + Betta = Betta with no finnage left

My guy was wintering in a separator (the net was in the main tank). He jumped out and into the main tank and was stripped of most of his finnage in the hours it took me to rescue him.

Thanks.
I just feel incredibley stupid right now! I didnt really do my research before I got my betta, so I guess thats big mistake #1... If it doesnt work out, I have a friend that really wants a betta, so I could find him a new home... But i just feel super dumb for putting him in there now :C

Don't feel bad, bettas can be hit or miss in community tanks. I've kept them with fancy guppies (which most people will tell you NEVER to do) yet at the same time I've heard stories of them being so aggressive they couldn't even live with snails.

You aren't dumb, if you were then you wouldn't be on here asking for advice .

Thanks! You made me feel a bit better

This morning I looked at him, and his fins are only gettign worse... I decided to give him to my friend, cuz I told her I get her a betta any way. I feel kinda bad, but its better than getting torn up by those danios. Ill probably get some other danio compatible fishies...
