Set up my plant tank!

I finally got a chance to set up my new planted eclipse system 6. This will be the new home to my betta. It is set up with soil and gravel substrate and contains watersprite (floating and planted), 2 narrow leaf anubias nana, and a mat of java fern grown on a piece of driftwood. I'm very happy with the way it looks right now, and I am hoping everything goes smoothly with the cycle, as there is some existing bacteria already from my old gravel. My betta boy is currently mad at me for moving him, so I hope it goes quickly.

Let me know if the photo shows because this is my first time posting photos.

Looking good so far! Should look really nice once everything's grown in.

That's java moss, though, not a java fern .

The betta has moved in! There are also, six (plain, not fancy) guppies who are getting along with him quite nicely. Now I just need to be patient. Let the plants grow out, and get a background on there.

Exploring his new tank:

Checking out the plants (the water isn't really that color. I lightened the image so you could see him better and it turned out like that)

Showing off his pretty fins!

Adding the guppies may not have been the best idea, they need different conditions than the betta and a new 6-gallon isn't going to be able to support so many fish. Planted tanks should be lightly stocked if you want to take advantage of natural filtration and not have to worry about mechanical filters/gravel vacuuming. I'd consider rehoming them.

The betta is gorgeous, though! Nice metallic blue color .

I will probably give the guppies back to my dad then.

Thanks for the compliment on my betta boy!

I like.

If I wasn't a serial plant murderer I would have a planted tank

If you want to get more animals for the tank, wait until it's totally stable first . Then you can consider trying shrimp (amano, cherry, etc.), small nerite snails, or possibly a few pygmy cories.

hahaha! I love it. Hopefully I don't turn out to be one. But I picked easy ones so that should be in my favor.

Even the ones that are supposed to be easy die on me.

What a spoiled Betta!!! Looks great though! With a backround and once those plants fill out it will look wonderful! You will have fun cutting back your plants
Snails are pretty adorable - should be good cleaners too!
Unfortunately my betta tries to eat anything that moves in his tank. boo! but if yours hasnt tried to eat the guppies maybe hes a nicer betta!
