. The band's Bass player Brian and his girlfriend Tracy adopted a wonderful rescue rattie from us recently who has been with us since November, (he was from the Jersey City rescue) and we thank them immensly. We have a lot of ratties in our care, we are a state registered non profit shelter as well as have a network of fosters throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and beyond. We currently have over 300 rescues waiting for loving forever homes, including the 33 LaGuardia Community College lab rats.
On July 23 Ratta Muffin Rat Reskue will also be attending RatFest held in Gales Ferry, CT. No ratties allowed, but we will be bringing some of our hand-made and home-made goodies as well as charity bracelets made by Ratta Muffins Fundraising Coordinator, Marie Bauman who is attending with us. Look at our online store, some things can be personalized for your liking, so check out the items at our store and if you will be attending we will be happy to bring it for you.
On August 13 Ratta Muffin Rat Reskue will be attending RodentFest by The Rodent Club held in Rising Sun, Maryland. We have many ratties up for adoption. Help us help the helpless hundreds of unwanted, neglected or abused ratties that find their way to our rescue each year, adopt a rescue! Unfortunately, many people think rats that end up in rescues are all genetically and behaviorally inferior. But, it is not uncommon for us to get rats that have either outlived their usefulness or their novelty with impulsive owners who considered their rats possessions rather than a friends or members of the family, or simply did not really consider the time, effort and expense needed to be a rat owner. Not all breeders or pet stores will accept "returns", so choices for giving up rats can be limited to animal welfare organizations, such as rescues, or the owners trying to place their own rats. Good rescues adopt the animal only when he/she is ready and to a home that matches and is realistic about the commitment necessary to provide the rat with the best home possible. Beyond doing a "good deed", adopting a rescue rat can be the best decision and addition to the family you ever made. So visit our site www.rattamuffinreskue.org
and let all the little muffins pull at your heart strings, and who knows, you may just find your new best friend.
Finally, on August 27 we will be holding our first Rat Event, RatOpia in Endwell New York, (just outside Binghamton).
