Wink Woot

Someone contacted me about rescuing her boa, she cannot keep and I am waiting on a reply from her now. Once I get more info on her I will get to know how she is (etc). Wish me luck!

Ummm...have you done research? I wouldn't just rush in and get a snake without doing loads of research if I was you.

Who contacted you?

Do a lot of research on Boas. They are not usually a good pet for first time snake owners. They are challenging to get to eat as compared to other breeds and they grow in most cases to be a lot bigger. Ask MANY MANY questions... how often it eats, what it eats, when the last time it ate was and most importantly WHY they can't keep it anymore. My hubby knows a lot more about Boas than I do.. we have a colombian red tailed boa and a Caukers Kay (Dwarf) Boa.

Yes I did loads of research about a year ago when I was looking into getting one, as I was hoping to get one b/c my B/F loves snakes and we were looking into getting one. I definably think I can do it I am asking questions BUT have not heard from the person as of yet. But is has been about 2 days so if I don't hear from her I guess she found another home.

I don't think your ready for a boa I was going to get one
before (I turned down lots of snakes because they wouldn't take frozen/ thawed). I think this is a bad idea...just my 2 cents
If you decide you can't keep them,& it accepts frozen/thawed I can provide a home for them.
But i'd have to see it accept dead food first.
I know a lot of people say they'll eat whatever, just to get rid of them...thats why I always asked to view the snakes eat at least once before I even consider.

^^^I think it's smarter to ask for the corn snakes they are practically giving away in St.John's& Mt.Pearl almost every week in the Buy& Sell . Jon was going to get one,but then though nahh.
(I'd end up with it anyway).

I love corns!! BTW you have a beautiful corn!! I never get Buy and sells let me know of any that is in there that could be good and things included. I would MUCH rather a corn as they are more easier than Boa's.

I don't usually buy them every week now either (theyre usually sold out before I get home ) but I know theres STiLL same snakes that was trying to be sold for a few weeks now in there.
One being an albino snow like mine.
I do strongly suggest you get a corn as a first snake.
You'd seriously love them
Also I suggest you buy from East Coast Canadian Feeders.
They are better quality than the dead mice& rats sold at pet stores
which could be there for gosh only knows how long getting frozen,thawed,frozen,thawed..which is not good .
East Coast Canadian Feeders I also buy spirulina (spelling?)
there for my fish tank& my crickets, mealworms, superworms, occasional waxworm,& nightcrawlers (which my brother swear by when he goes fishing ) from there.

Yeah is it a emergency Spay, nice way to say spay/abortion. But if they are not formed too much (if she is at all preggers at all) it costs a bit extra.

I think I would love them, being around a good few of them already!! And if not, you will have a new one

Dawna thats NOT cool....
I won't say anything on it but I do think thats sorta immensely cruel.
If it's conceived let them live just bring to the SPCA....
Formed or not,it's alive,if it wasn't alive she wouldn't be preggers!!
Please reconsider,I hate this..

I agree with emergency spays as there are way too many cats and dogs which are unwanted, but since were not allowed to debate no more,I am not going to say anything else on that subject. Also it is off topic.

But yeah Dawna,I agree with Melissa. You should not get that boa right now.Or any snake right now.You should focus on getting the other 3 cats fixed first and maybe get a job.

But as mentioned boas are not a beginner snake.A corn is.I want a corn snake someday, but I am waiting for now.Something you should do as well in your current situation.

^^^I hate that topic anyway.
Upsets me more than anything

Don't get anything else till you spay& neuter!!
& Boas aren't a beginner snake.
Any reptile forum will mention that .

[EDiT] I'm just going to avoid this topic now.[/EDiT]
