how long before my dragon calms down

I got a baby bearded dragon about 3 weeks ago, he freaks out and runs around the tank when i go to hold him. I hold him about everyday. just wondering, how long before he chills out?

Try handling him a little less. Just once or twice/week, ...if that much. Most young dragons don't like being handled. It's not important to keep them tame at this stage. It'll happen naturally.

Too much handling can cause stress at this age. They use up energy they need for growing. It can also cause them to drop off or stop eating altogether.

They mellow out as they get older. Have some patience. When he no longer scurries around everytime you reach in the tank, you can handle him more. But right now is not the best time.

Piper was a few months old before he could be handled easily, and now he doesn't care as long as he gets to chase the cat down the hall ever couple of day. He is currently brumating which sucks cause I miss my little guy who thinks he is 10 feet tall.

This picture was taken about a year and a half ago when he was just a few months old.
