Border Collie

hey guys,

I seem to have gotten my self into a spot. We were coming home for out of town the other night and found a B/C on the side of the road. She was walking/limping up the on ramp, so we had to go up a couple miles to loop back to get her. Well we went back to check on her, and when we did she ran back into the tall grass. I noticed a blue SUV parked on the side road, we called her and called her but she didnt answer, after that truck suddenly took off she ran to Logan. She tried to jump into his arms with an injured right back leg. We put her in the Blazer, and I sat in the back with her and our 2 year old. She never so much a growled, and of course you know Dwight(son) had to start touching her leg, but it never bothered her she just looked at him and licked him. We got her home and I got a better look at her leg, she couldnt stand on it at all. So I rushed her to our vet, he said that her hip was either poped up out of place or the bone had broke, but either way it was an easy surgical fix. He also said she is a little thin. She is only about 2-3 years old. Now this is where the problems start. First we can not keep her, Joplin has a STUPID law that you can only have 4 dogs or cats total. We have 4 dogs and I can get away with my cat cus I say he is a stray, since he only comes in once every couple days. So I have to find this sweet thing a new home, also we cant afford the surgery. We spent $140. When we took her friday to get her worm medicine and anti-inflamitory(sp?) pills for her leg. Our vet said he can do the surgrey, xrays, and all shots for around $275-$280. Only problem is we cant affored it. If any one has any ideas, please let me know. Or if anyone knows some one who might be able to give her a home or find her a home please let me know. She only seems to have 2 slight problems, 1) she howls at sirens, but as soon as you tell her to stop she does. 2) she has a little bit of food agression against other dogs, she has growled and snapped at out GS mix, again when told no she stops. We are going to try to get her groomed, she has stickers from brushes all through her hair, bad fleas, matted areas on her tail and around the bottem. She is such a sweet sweet dog.

I'm glad you guys picked her up and took her to the vet, not to mention paying for her bill.

You can try calling the local HS in your area. They may be willing to pay/do the surgery for you.

Joplin Humane socitey is totaly out of the question. They do not give any animal brought in medical attention. We recently adopted a maltesse out there and she had a server respitory infection, and had never seen a dr. Also they would take her and put her down, because of her leg. I really dislike our humaine socity. I have a couple friends that are trying to help raise the money for the surgery, here hopeing it goes well.

i think that if you can get her the surgery some way, then petfinder.com will be the way to go. post under the "found" section (not the ad's where the organizations post). she will probably go quickly! also, about the price of the surgery - you may be able to get on ebay and hold a fundraiser for the surgery. people will donate to those things!! let us know!
