I have a catahoula. She is awesome. These dogs are very intellegent. You have a very special dog. They are loyal, loving, affectionate dogs as well. from what I have read these are the only k-9 known to have been domesticated in north america. they were domesticated by the indians in louisiana. the indians used them for herding. My catahoula, Allison, had to be broken of the habit of nipping at our heels when we played in the backyard with our kids. I find dead birds, apossums and squirrels in our back yard. and if there is a racoon or deer neer, she points with her body. we adopted her as an older puppy, approx 1 1/2 yrs, we didnt teach her these things. They are very active dogs, feed your dog a high energy food if you are going to be active with her. Make sure there is alot to keep her active during the day , otherwise she is going to get angry and chew things up. We take our dogs swimming at the river, and she LOVES it. Good exercise. Catahoulas do need alot of attention. they need alot of love, especially physical such as hugs kisses, laying down together, they are very affectionate. There are not alot of websites, and i can not find anything in the llibrary. i will try to find some more info for you. you have a great family member. Have fun.

here are some pics, we believe she is not a purebread, she has some other markings on her. from what we were told she was a stray. Some catahoulas have blue eyes, some have mixed, some are brown.
the pic that has all white is her in the snow up in the mountains, she LOVES the snow. we rarely get snow here, so when we go to the mountains she lets loose in the winter. the snow is half way p her rib cage....lol
