I think this would be borderline giving medical/dosage advice and that's not allowed on the forums.

I hope you get in contact with your vet and your doggy feels better!

My dog has really bad hips as well. I will ask my mom what kind of meds the vet gave her so you can talk to your vet about it. It runs about $2 a pill and they need it every day though. our dog is also 65 lbs

my dog Puppers takes arthramine, its over the counter, its glucosamine, vitamine c and so on, it has made a big difference in him. Our vet recommended this brand and the dosage is on the container...I know there are alot of foods out there with glucosamine in it...good luck finding the right pills for your baby, I really hope your vet calls you back soon

Previcox. It's not cheap--about $2.60 per pill is what our dog is on

You can get joint stuff at walmart in the pet section, however, if they are really bad you need to get it checked out by the vet anyway

I was told to start a glucosamine/chondroitin supplement every day but have a very hard time convincing Coco that the cheese slice is only a cheese slice!!

I also have an old guy with bad joints from YEARS of playing HARD! Just recently, the vet started him on Rymadyl (not sure of the spelling) and it seems to help.

The thing that has kept him going this long is his dinovite supplements. He gets dinovite daily with his food and in the last year I have gotten supromega fish oil too. Both are from dinovite. So, in spite of his joints, he's still up for a game of chase the tennis ball but we have to stop before he gets too sore!

I really think that good nutrition plays a vital role in hip displasia. Research is now linking it to a lack of vitamin c. So, I use a good supplement and have for years. And, then I have the rymadyl for when we overdo it!

Old dogs are the best, aren't they?
