I went in - pushed it back to 1:40 because brandon wasnt here yet. and went in, and she looked at the mass, felt it and said "this is not good"
told me that she it was a mammary tumor and the prognosis was just not good.
She was very nice and it was a bit comforting to hear it from her and not the male vet.
My mom got there and i looked at her and just started bawling. She said "cancer?" I said "yeah" and she said "honey I am sorry"
and i just lost it.
Now i dont care what anyone says, i am a wonderful devoted and compassionate owner. But I am not putting my 10 year old through a masectomy, x rays, tons of blood tests, and god knows what else.
So im gonna get her some lortabs or whatever, for when it does inevitably rupture, then take her in to be put to sleep.
I cant afford 1,037 dollar surgery or the heartbreak of doing that, then losing her if she turns out to develop more.
So, i am going to keep her comfortable, we gave her her confortis and bought her a new collar, and her own cheeseburger from wendys, and now me and my friends are sitting here reminiscing about how little she was when i got her 10 years ago.. and how cute and friendly she was.. how she loved everyone.
i am sure later on tonight im gonna be laying there in the floor bawling my eyes out.. but for now we are trying to think of happy thoughts - my boyfriend has only known her for 6 months.. so he doesnt understand.. and he wasnt really an animal person before we met.. - but my friends chris, jeana, amber, leslee, patrick and several others were all here when i brought her home.. went on walks too her to the dog park together.. and even their parents are sad to see her go
It's things like this that make feel i am doing the right thing.
And i feel she's lead a wonderful life filled with joy, and love.
