Need your good vibes and warm wishes.

We are taking Sasha [the first dog I ever owned and best friend] to the vet today, shes a 10 year old gsd mix and she has a large mass hanging down from her tummy around her nipples.
So i am crossing my fingers, and we're scheduled for 1 pm
I hate taking any of my dogs to the vet i just feel so helpless once we get in there.
We're going to have it asessed, and if i cant afford treatment [if it is cancer or something equally bad] its possible i may have to put her down or work with them on payments.
We've been going here for 10 years and i still dont know how much i like the guy, but he hasnt stirred us wrong yet..
She's had the mass for a year, and with a 1,000 dollar vet bill combining Bella's parvo treatments and her attack a year later we just couldnt afford it
I finally voiced how concerned i was about her - [shes had a needle aspiration of the thing before but it was blood and they couldnt give me an exact estimation or whatever]
So WE ARE DOING IT AGAIN.
Oh well, at least thats only 25 bucks.
When i talked to the girl at the desk, [i called at 7:59, they open at 8 XD] I almost started crying just thinking of all the different things it could be and just feeling ashamed for not having the cash to take her sooner.
So give us warm wishes hugs and good vibes.
Because this dog is literally my best friend in the world.

Here are some pics.

I went in - pushed it back to 1:40 because brandon wasnt here yet. and went in, and she looked at the mass, felt it and said "this is not good"
told me that she it was a mammary tumor and the prognosis was just not good.
She was very nice and it was a bit comforting to hear it from her and not the male vet.
My mom got there and i looked at her and just started bawling. She said "cancer?" I said "yeah" and she said "honey I am sorry"
and i just lost it.
Now i dont care what anyone says, i am a wonderful devoted and compassionate owner. But I am not putting my 10 year old through a masectomy, x rays, tons of blood tests, and god knows what else.
So im gonna get her some lortabs or whatever, for when it does inevitably rupture, then take her in to be put to sleep.
I cant afford 1,037 dollar surgery or the heartbreak of doing that, then losing her if she turns out to develop more.
So, i am going to keep her comfortable, we gave her her confortis and bought her a new collar, and her own cheeseburger from wendys, and now me and my friends are sitting here reminiscing about how little she was when i got her 10 years ago.. and how cute and friendly she was.. how she loved everyone.
i am sure later on tonight im gonna be laying there in the floor bawling my eyes out.. but for now we are trying to think of happy thoughts - my boyfriend has only known her for 6 months.. so he doesnt understand.. and he wasnt really an animal person before we met.. - but my friends chris, jeana, amber, leslee, patrick and several others were all here when i brought her home.. went on walks too her to the dog park together.. and even their parents are sad to see her go
It's things like this that make feel i am doing the right thing.
And i feel she's lead a wonderful life filled with joy, and love.

Edit: Aw, I'm sorry.

My mom's friend has a Goldie, who went through all the treatments, one day he tried to stand up and couldn't. Too weak. They took him in that day to get put down. I'm so sorry,

I think you are, too. I don't think you'd enjoy seeing her in pain.

Yeah, i dont think i would either, i'd feel so helpless.
But she got her own cheeseburger today and that made her very happy.
Later on i am gonna give her a bath and brush her out.

I've had a dog with cancer. Awful thing to see. We had some difficulties with the vet though, so my mom basically had to put her foot down in the end.

But at long as you can she she's fine and happy, I think you are doing the right thing
No reason to let her go now, if she's fine and happy.

Good luck with your girl

Aww, it's so hard letting go. She is and always will be your baby. She wont be un-forgiving when it's time but it's best to let her tell YOU when it's time. Dogs are wise and she'll look to you to let you know she loves you and trusts you to take care of her pain. My deepest wishes and blessings.

That's what would our pets wish when they are gone, that we will cherish them and move on. Sending hugs and vibes for both of you..
