New addition

We have a new (temporary) addition. My brother and his wife are staying with us, my brother till Jan. 7th and his wife till May or June. My brother (Anthony) is in the Navy and leaves in January for a 6 month around-the-world cruise. Shauna (his wife) is staying with us for part of the time my bro is gone. Now, about the new addition. Gwinevere, their dog will also be with us! She is a hyper, excitable 8 m/o puupy. We're not sure what she is. I'm thinking she's a Samoyed/Alaskan Malamute mix.

She's very sweet and extremely playful. She's a big change from our TFT Mighty. Mighty does not play. Gwinny tries to play with him and it's really funny. Anyone have any ideas what Gwinny could be?

Yes, that's what I was thinking ... just a slight bit of Chow-Chow mixed with Australian Malamute. She's just beautiful and looks a lot like the dog in the pic. below. The owner told me that he's part Chow and Akita, I believe.

To me, he doesn't seem heavy-set enough to have chow-chow in her.

Alaskan Malamute is possible.

If her tail is tightly curled around over her back, Samoyed is possible, too. Along with things like coarse outer hair with a soft undercoat.

My husband and I have a samoyed.

They don't have the heavy bone structure of chows. It's all hair, believe me.

Actually, now that I think about it, I'd have to agree with you. She is very narrow compared to a Chow, and does appear to have an Alaskan-Samoyed mix.

I think she definitely has some samoyed in her. Gwinny's personality is like a Samoyed's. I'm thinking she maybe has husky or malamute also? I don't think she has any chow in her, her tails curls, but it's not always over her back. Her top coat on her body was shaved, but it was left on her head. Her undercoat and topcoat are very soft.
