Question Peanut butter ok, but not peanuts?

I think someone answered this for me a while back, but I've forgotten. Why is it ok for dogs to eat peanut butter, but not peanuts?

my guess peanuts would be hard for them to chew and really peanutbutter has been debated about if its ok to give them that to as it sometimes gets stuck on their mouth and choke too

Why would they choke on peanuts and not, say, their kibble? Same size, and peanuts are softer to boot. So I don't think it's that.

I heard that they are allergic to peanuts, but that peanut butter is ok. I have to call my vet tomorrow anyways to make dental appointments. So maybe I'll ask then.

I have done all kinds of google searches on this lol...I found alot about peanut allergies...but nothing about peanuts being dangerous...but I did see macadamia nuts are poisinous to dogs lol...I did see that the peanuts were harder for them to digest, says they tend to come out the way they went in, whole....

everywhere I have read says they are ok, but not great lol...man the things I just learned while looking this all up

I did the same thing Carie did...googled and googled and searched. I found info on alleriges, the digestion thing and the same info on macadamias also.

I never heard that peanuts are bad for dogs. My dog loves them and she is fine..perfectly healthy. Of course she doesnt eat them exclusively...lol...she gets one or two or a few tossed to her if I am eating a handful and she gives me her...please mama..I want a peanut..look at me I am so cuuuute.....face. LOL

Weird. I've just always heard they were allergic to them. Just one of those things you hear, I guess.
Thanks for the Macadamian nut info, though!!!

Jay often eats peanuts at night and Frank and Belle always get a couple. I can attest to the fact peanuts do come out looking pretty much the same as when they went in. It scared me a couple of times until I remembered that they had recently had peanuts.
My guys never had any issues with peanuts or peanut butter.
