Question Puppies and Sleeping

I have a question I was curious if anyone had any insight on.

I recently received a two month old yorkie as a christmas gift from my fiance. My puppy seems to only want to play and not sleep. Yet I know that puppies need plenty of sleep. So during the day is it a good idea to specifically put him in his crate to take a nap as you would a child?

Hmm, wish i knew more but where exactly was the dog bred? alot of tiny dogs are fad breeds that are commercially bred to keep up with demand-especially at christmas time- so it may be that the dog isnt actually 2 months old yet and the "breeder" just wanted to get some holiday cash since yorkers are small anyway who would know the diff?? i would definetly have him checked at the vet because a pup is weaned when it can basically survive without momma's milk..and that includes hours a day of physical and mental stimulation. it doesnt seem normal to me why your puppy isnt active.bring him to a vet and let us know!

When I got my yorkie as a puppy she never seemed to take many naps if any at all, she slept through the night most of the time, but during the day she wanted to play and run and chase any and all air born things...my bigger puppies slept alot but never the small one lol

My pup is VERY active. That's the issue. He doesn't want to sleep unless I put him in his crate. He sleeps through the night and when it is dark but that is about it. During the day he just wants to play, play, play. He was bought from a breeder so I know his birthday is correct and he has been to the vet etc.

he may just be active and get enough sleep at night, he will sleep when he needs to... just don't wake him when he does sleep

Does the puppy have set meal times? Usually right after puppies eat they crash...so if he just grazes through the day, and doesn't have set meal times I would make a feeding schedule for him and stick with it...maybe he will nap after a meal.
