Angry This is so frustrating!

I'm still searching for another Bull Terrier. I contacted a rescue, spent over an hour filling out an adoption application online, contacted the person directly involved with the female I was interested in and asked her a ton of questions. In the dog's profile it said she didn't read groups of rambunctious dogs well so they labeled her dog aggressive. Upon further inquiry the rescue lady admitted that she wasn't dog aggressive, they just wanted to put her in a home without other dogs. Umm, ok....but they are asking that almost all rescues be in only dog homes.... I asked if they had any other rescues available that might be good with other dogs, no answer back.

I found a pup in Michigan, emailed the breeder about her and asked a bunch of questions: Have the parents been health tested, do you show them, how long have you been breeding, how long is your health guarantee, any problems with deafness, blah blah blah.... The breeder emails me back and says that there's no problem with deafness because he breeds whites to tri-coloreds....no other questions answered, oh, and call him to let him know when I want to come get the pup. I emailed him back and told him that it was breeders like him that caused people like me to suffer the heart break of having a deaf pup die on the surgery table after being spayed..FYI: Just because one parent is a tri-colored doesn't mean that their white off spring won't be deaf! I'm so disgusted I could puke!

I contacted a show breeder shortly after Riley died. He has all health testing done and is expecting pups soon. I'm hoping to hear from him soon but usually all of his pups are spoken for before they're even born.

Hmm any in Minnesota?? hehe

Really though that sucks & that one breeder should have his ears pulled off his head! It is really frustrating when you are trying to be as educated as possible & the questions you ask are either completely overlooked or blatently ignored! You'll find that pup soon hon, just keep your chin up! Remember ALL things happen for a reason... I'm sure there is a reason you are not finding that pup right now.

I'm here anytime you need me & you know that!!

Oh, I forgot to add that I contacted a so-called rescue about a deaf white pup that's about 3 months old and asked for pics. She emails me back and said that they'll be putting her pics on the website. Two weeks later, no pics so I emailed her again. She emails me back pics she "just took a few minutes ago" of a white pup COVERED in mud (BTW: the one pic I saw of the pup before asking for more pics she was covered in mud). What the????? It's so sad how some people consider their dogs property instead of living, breathing, feeling creatures.

I am so sorry you're having to deal with this crud Rhonda. HUGS!! You'll find the perfect one.

I totally feel your pain though. I got the same bull when I started my Newfie search after Chewy died. I still only found about 5 that would even consider selling to me. *sigh* That's ok though, cause two of those 5 are awesome. NOW I just have to save. LOL!!

We are here if you need to vent.

That sucks Rhonda!!! People these days just make everything seem like a waste of time. Just hang in there and I hope you find a poocher to add to your home very soon. Whether it ends up being a puppy or a rescue, they will have a wonderful home with you...its just getting the people to cooperate!!

Rhonda, I have noticed people do not respond to calls and emails in a timely fashion. And working with shelters and rescues can be a very trying experience. Many of the shelters that I looked at that have Pitties require the dog to go to an only dog home. To me, that is eliminating a lot of people that may be able to adopt from a shelter! As for the breeder you contacted, I am not surprised at all by his response. There are a lot of twits out there breeding that shouldn't be.

Rhonda, even though it is extremely frustrating, you will find a great companion for Mirra. It may take a little while longer but you will find one!

Wow, how stressful is that? I know the right pup is out there, waiting for you somewhere, Rhonda. I hope you have better success with that one breeder who's waiting for puppies.

When I was looking for a puppy, I almost made the mistake of buying one from a breeder like the one you mentioned. I was one email away from sending her a deposit when I found Joey. I emailed the breeder and they were sooo great. They answered every single one of my questions. They were in OK and i'm in NH, they even called me to make arrangements to get him and everything. I still talk to them from time to time. If I am ever looking for another Joey I will definitely go back to them.

I'm sure you are in the same slump I was in with the bad breeders, but if you hold out a little longer, I'm sure the perfect puppy is out there for you too. You just have to weed through the bad ones to get to the good. I bet once you find the right pup that it will feel all the more sweeter because of what you had to go through to find him.
