so my bf got his dog....

My bf, (zero) posted a while back about finding a dog and he really wanted to keep him, but he ran away.

Well today he came by and was like come on we are going to get a dog, told me he knew nothing about it but they were going to kill it at the pound. And of course he was lying and it ended up being the dog he wanted to keep before

He looked terrible and we spent a long time today trying to get rid of all the matts in his hair and get him looking better, he looks a lot better, but still needs a lot of work....

his tail before which was really really bad and covered in stickers:

After spending hours brushing him and a trash can full of hair:

then he decided the couch belonged to him:

Thanks!

Well he has only been here a few hours. He is still a little uneasy sometimes when he first gets around us. He is not house broke so he was probably not let inside before. He deffinately will not be able to go out w/o a leash or Im sure he probably wont come back. But hopefully we can work with him and get him trained. He is pretty calm, not a hyper dog, he doesnt jump on anyone or anything so that is good. He does sit when told, well usually but he ends up laying down right after.

First thread....

Thanks guys!

Monday morning I'm going to have him taken for his rabies shot and I'm going to see about getting him fixed. I'm going to try and get him to an acceptable level of behavior this week so I won't have to find him a sitter for the weekend.

Oh ok. So you returned him to the original owners and then he ran away again from there?

I'm so glad you guys have him now. He will be so happy!!

Looks like he's making himself at home right away.

With arctic breeds, you will probably NEVER be able to really trust him off a leash. Samoyeds are not much different from Malamutes and these dogs were meant to run, and that's what they'll do if given the chance. They are also great escape artists.

He's a gorgeous dog, though.

Thanks everyone!!

Justin found him before and when he let Kenzie in on the porch, he followed, but Justin left for the weekend and had someone come over to let Kenzie out. He doesnt run away, but the other dog (now called Buddy) would not go back in. And then he ran away and I guess someone found him, called the owners, then a few weeks later he ends up in the pound and Justin goes to get him.

We are pretty sure he was abused. He gets scared of jingling or clapping or stomping which we use to get our other dogs attention. Anytime Justin leaves, he cries. And if he is scared he will try to stick his nose in his chest and wants to be right next to him in the car. But he is very afraid that Justin is just going to leave him and never come back. He seems to do a lot better though when he is with Makenzie.
